Actually, I think the part of the name they are trying to get away from is "Basic".
At least the discussions of this in the past have been about trying to lose the "amateur programmer" stigma that many feel is attached to any form of Basic.
Right. Most of the "Why do people hate REALbasic?"-style threads have mentioned the fact that anything even remotely related to BASIC automatically gives you amateur status - although if our 200-line apps can beat up a 200,000-line C++ app I see no reason for complaining...
When Studio was announced I thought it was going to be "RealBasic Studio", like "RealBasic Professional". But instead they dropped Basic, and it is "Real Studio".
I think they hope to do the same with the whole product line, becoming "RealCode" or "RealSomethingTotallyNotConnectedWithBasic" or something.
More than likely...
Maybe they could just go with "Real".
Seriously doubt it... no coder in his right mind would ever Google "Real" as a programming language. BASIC, yes... C++, yes... Java, yes... but Real? Uh-uh. REALbasic will perhaps become REALCode, or REALDevelopment, or even REALIDE... but I seriously doubt it will EVER become "Real". Just my 2c worth...
