I'm having some problems with 2012r2:

Every time I run a project inside the IDE and I end it, RB crashes.
I get these messages:
REALbasic IDE: IPCSocket error 105
Segmentationfault

Also when starting RB I get the message that libocci.so.10.1 can't be opened.

Any ideas for a workaround?

Using XUbuntu 12.04 (32bit)

Same thing here, both for 2011r4.3 and 2012r2

Not 100% sure but libocci.so is an Oracle Library try deleting the OraclePlugin from the Plugins folder...

libocci.so is not the problem, but there is a workaround. You can stop the debugger by clicking "Stop debugging" in the "Project" menu. It won't crash then.

Just found out that the workaround doesn't always work. 2012R2 does work on 12.10.

What if I can't even get to the 'Project' menu? My crash happens as soon as I try to open any project (even any of the templates).

While this may not fix the problem you might find that getting up to 12.10 works better
12.04 was NOT the best release of Ubuntu

IF you cant try this
Open Terminal
run the IDE from the command line so you can report the output from doing this
it may give us a better idea whats wrong
BUT I will say that 12.04 was a a VERY problem plagued release & we often see just by updating to 12.10 that the problems are fixed as there are a bunch that are Ubuntu itself.

Ubuntu 12.10 gives also many crashes (most projects end with a segmentation fault). I also tried recent versions of Suse, Mint and Debian, with the same result.
The only message I see on the command line is segmentation fault (core dumped).
So there is no way to run 1202r2 without problems on Linux. :(

I have been running Real Studio 2012r2 on the following debian version for a couple of days now without any crashes or problems.

http://debian.cites.illinois.edu/pub/debian-cd/current-live/i386/net/debian-live-6.0.6-i386-lxde-desktop-net.tar.gz

Using the base lxde install without any updates to GTK/gcc etc....

:?

I'm on the outlier, running 64-bit Arch Linux here, but yes, segfault here doesn't show any error messages in the terminal, it simply segfaults... Here's what I have (currently while testing 4.3, similar/same with 2012r2).

Loading Office classes ...
Loading dependencies ...
Initialize online help ...
Done initializing online help ...
(Real Studio 2011:6467): Gtk-CRITICAL **: _gtk_accel_group_attach: assertion `g_slist_find (accel_group->acceleratables, object) == NULL' failed
(Real Studio 2011:6467): Gtk-CRITICAL **: _gtk_accel_group_attach: assertion `g_slist_find (accel_group->acceleratables, object) == NULL' failed
1] 6467 segmentation fault (core dumped) /opt/realsoftware/RealStudio-2011r4/Real\ Studio\ 2011

And 2011r4.1 has the same result as 4.3 above. Any suggestions?

I've just started trying to use the demo version of 2012r2 with the same result. I've tried Debian and Mint. Both crash trying to stop a debug run.
With an older version (2006r49 of RB, I got segmentation fault crashes with the cinnamon desktop, but not with Mate. Is anyone able to use the new IDE with Mint or Debian with any other desktop than Gnome?

Don

i've tried latest versions of ubuntu, debian, xubuntu, mint and opensuse. None of them work with 2012r2. They do work with 2012r1.1
I filed a bug report, but there's no solution for it yet.
