Out of several hundred users using Win 7 I have received this error from a user:

Windows close program window message:
"launch for Mechanic's Toolbox has stopped working"
"The color scheme has been changed to Windows 7 Basic"

Using Real Studio 2011 Release 3 on a win 7 laptop and have not been able to duplicate the error - any suggestions much appreciated.

If you are not explicitly turning off Aero effects, and the user has not right clicked your app and done the same, my money is on rogue memory allocation.
Dunno what your app does, but if it grabs huge amounts of memory, Windows can elect to turn off visual effects to try to compensate. A guess.

Thank you for the idea - I'm having the customer try different compatibility modes - possibly as XP --although on my Win 7 computer the same program runs fine
