Ubuntu 7.1, RB 2008r1:

It seems the StyledTextPrinter has been broken on Linux for some time:

Feeback items:
From 2006r3: http://www.realsoftware.com/feedback/zfmfqugb
From 2007r4: http://www.realsoftware.com/feedback/attmxjqu

Forum thread:
May 2007: http://forums.realsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13704

My existing code, which works perfectly on Windows and OS X, uses an off-screen editfield to draw the styled text, and then uses a StyledTextPrinter to draw the text onto a Picture object (which is eventually refreshed into a Canvas).

I think the best solution (workaround) is to draw the text onto the Picture.Graphics class directly, removing the Editfield completely on Linux. But I thought it was worth asking if anyone had any other ideas???

Tell Real to fix many of the numerous RBlinux printing bugs that have been around for years.

Well, fortunately, it sufficed for me to just use the Graphics text drawing methods on Linux instead of a hidden editfield.

In the future, when StyledTextPrinter is fixed, I will be able to just remove the current Linux-only code.

im glad you found a way to work around it, the former post was a bit of a rant, as for RS fixing the printing in RBlinux, most of them have been there since RB2005, so i get a little bit cynical :(
