Thanks Tim..... but $150 just to be able to test aint worth it... not to mention I'd probably have to buy another computer to be able to even run Win7

Windows runs nearly 90% of Computers world wide. If you are serious about selling software, Windows is a must.

Not really - there's a couple hundred million Macs worldwide and you can sell enough there to make a nice living.
If that weren't true MS would have dropped selling Office on the Mac a long time ago (with or without the consent decree & the agreement they struck with Steve Jobs way back when)

"Lots of computers" ≠ "lots of sales"
It _may_ equate to more sales but it's also harder to get noticed

I would add to that and say that a higher percentage of Apple users expect to pay for software than Windows or Linux user. I say this as a person who hasn't had a Mac in two years and prefer Windows and Linux.

One thing I have noticed is that Mac users are willing to pay for the software they use while a substantial number of Windows users are pirateware consumers.

So even if the market is smaller perhaps it's a better market.

Disclaimer: No marketing studies have been conducted by me prior to stating my very own personal opinion.

Maybe the pirateware thing is slightly overstated, but I agree with the gist of this.
Its much harder to make a dent in a flooded Windows market.
Mac sales outnumber Windows sales by a factor of 80:20 for me.

I havent bothered Linux.. I keep waiting for signs that it has become accepted in the home and that people will pay for software.
(My stuff isnt business related)

You think it's overstated? A lot of windows systems I see are even running pirated copies of Windows, a lot more are running pirated copies of Office.

Of course the market for custom development for windows is still a lot larger in the business environment.
