xListBox looks cool. I checked out the project. I am guessing it is geared towards windows? The Write XLS function went straight to the debugger on a Mac with Excel installed. If it is using OLE or something like that in windows I wouldn't expect it to work on Mac. But I would expect it to say something like feature not available on Mac or something instead of a crash. Just a thought...

Looks great though and I like all the coloring options and what not.

Wow, there are some fantastic apps on this thread, thanks for sharing!

My current project is a Skin creator program for VirtualDJ (an audio/video mixing software).

The interface of VirtualDJ is highly customizable using skin packages that contain an XML and a Picture file.
Most users of VDJ, like to create their own skin, but as soon as they need to write the XML part, they get lost in the task.

Image

The left part uses Alex Restrepo's CustomEditField class to display and hilight the XML.
On the right, the picture is displayed, using a custom canvas control I have created (and will soon release).

The canvas can be scrolled, dragged, selected (showing a selection rectangle).
By the selecting the XML code, one can display on the graphics the exact position of the element.

Version 2.0 of this app will have a REALBasic IDE-like listbox to edit the properties of different elements to add to the XML.

Nice. I'd sure want to know how you're capturing the screen and recording fast enough. Are you limited by available memory?

Also: Have you considered adding "Animated GIF" to the output formats? This may sound silly, but it's a pretty useful functionality for a screen recorder, to quickly capture small features or small demos of specific functionalities and put in a web page.

Well, after a lot of pain with languages (still ongoing, but you have to stop and ship eventually)...
Ursa Software now shipping MacStitch2009/WinStitch2009, the latest version of our cross-stitch applications.
Mac and Windows released now, Linux definitely to follow soon. (Be interesting to see if there is a commercial market for Linux apps yet)

Hi Paul,

And why not publish your app in a website, so you don't have to add a section? Just link to a page and voilá.

publishing an app in a website is one thing - to be found is another story :-)

And what do you mean by "Just link to page..." ?

bye

MacDashboard.

It's my only project I've done so far, and it was fun & taught me lots about RB.
It's a Business Intelligence tool that lets users connect to multiple databases and construct a dashboard that monitors the data in the databases, displays it graphically, and updates in real time.

They build new dashboards by adding stoplights, bar charts, scatter plots, gauges, text, and maps to them.
I especially like that they can drill down in maps (so click on a country and get to a state, click on a state and get to counties, etc). And they can see the actual values by hovering over items on the graphs.

Here's the image of a new dashboard about to be defined.
Image

Here's the image of a dashboard that the user has laid out with the objects he wants to use.
Image

Here's the image of a property sheet for one of the objects on the dashboard.

And here are two sample dashboards.

Mail Light:

The idea behind the Mail Light project is to indicate the presence of emails that are currently on my email server with a flashing LED. I am often not right at my desk and I would like to know if I have email. Or I am near my desk, but my screen saver has kicked in while I’m working on something that doesn’t involve a constant mouse wiggle. By making a little black box with LEDs that can be controlled by USB through a mail monitoring program, I can be alerted to the presence of email on my server.
