 Post subject: launching movie under linux

Does anyone know how to launch a movie with realbasic under linux ?
I know that under windows the code is
movie.launch
but under linux it does'nt work.

You'd need to use the shell class (not FolderItems) -- then you'd launch the movie the same way you would under the terminal. For example (untested code):

someShellObject.Execute( "mplayer " + theMovieFolderItem.AbsolutePath )

Thanks but there's still a problem wih my code :
dim s as new shell
s.Execute "mplayer"+ getfolderItem(cell(listindex,PathColumn))

it does not compile, but if I write only
s.Execute  "mplayer"

it works correctly
Does anybody know something ?

s.execute( "mplayer " + getGolderItem( cell( listIndex, pathColumn ) ).shellPath )


Try that. You were adding a folderitem to a string. Although, it seems you already have the path, you might be able to do:
s.execute( "mplayer " + cell( listIndex, pathColumn) )

but whichever you do it wants to be "mplayer " not "mplayer" (note the trailing space.
