I've tried both the 64bit and now 32bit versions of Real Studio and can't get it to run. After choosing the type of app to create I get a segfault. If I run from a console, I get the following as output:

bsnipes@voyager:~/Apps/RealStudio2012r2.1> ./Real\ Studio

(Real Studio:6153): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_hash_table_insert_internal: assertion `hash_table != NULL' failed
[RB] Unable to load plugin RBQT.rbx
libocci.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory[RB] Unable to load plugin OraclePlugin.rbx
Loading Office classes ...
Loading dependencies ...
Initialize online help ...
Done initializing online help ...
REALbasic IDE: IPCSocket error 105
Segmentation fault

If I run "Real Studio" in gdb, I get the following for the error:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0xb6df4fe7 in ?? () from /usr/lib/libpixman-1.so.0

Has anyone gotten it to run in openSUSE 12.3 yet? I've seen the same errors in other threads with no fixes or workarounds.

AFAIK there is currently no Linux distro working on RS. I have tried Ubuntu 12.04, 12.10, Mint 14, OpenSUSE 12.2 and Fedora 18 on different PCs. All have the same problem. I hope they solve this soon. BTW according to the system requirements they should officially support it.

I have 2012r2.1 running on several installs of Ubuntu.
They pretty plain installs of Ubuntu running in a VM on my MacBook Pro.
9.10, 10.04, 11.04 and 12.04

Officially supported linux works...
Debian 7 + RS = working (32 bit)
Red Hat Linux enterprise + RS = working (32 bit)

Even though it isn't listed as a supported distribution, it should work according to the system requirements page. I can't even get it to run properly on 12.10 with KDE as the DE - the icons for the menus don't show up. I'll try compiling libpixman from other sources to see if it makes a difference and putting it in the RS path.

ubuntu 32 bit should work out of the box
if you have 64 bit linux you need ia32 libs

Just came across an Arch Linux bug report that is interesting and relevant: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/33439

Okay... so here we are in April... I just updated my OpenSuSE desktop to 12.3 from 12.2 and did so prior to checking if REALStudio worked. Well, apparently it doesn't so how do I get it to work with KDE 4.10 and OpenSuSE 12.3?

Right now my temporary solution is to run a VMWare instance of OpenSuSE 12.1 but I have concerns that when I compile code it won't run on the newer live machine... I'll have to test it to be sure. First I have to finish setting up the dev environment.

I'm also getting a segfault on Mageia3 (32-bit) after choosing the type of app:
[martin@sg1 RealStudio2012r2.1]$ ./"Real Studio"

(Real Studio:11115): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_hash_table_insert_internal: assertion `hash_table != NULL' failed

[martin@sg1 RealStudio2012r2.1]$

Running the Linux version of RS has been problematic for years and I sure hope it's fixed when XoJo is released!

Actually we found at least one issue with OpenSuse and it _may_ be similar on other distro's
We ran into an issue where calling certain API's would cause the crash
Evince also ran into this
