Hello,

I have a Linux Application that depending on initial settings will open the
main application window at one of two heights. In the Window.Open event I have this code.

If testmode then
me.Height = 650
else
me.Height = 480
end if

When the variable testmode is false I found that the window height is
getting set to 480 and the Window.Resized event is firing but the window is
displayed at a height of 650 which is the design time height of the window.

I have compiled this application with RB2005 r2, r3 and r4 using the Linux and Windows IDE and in all cases the behavior is the same. When I compile it using RB5.5.5 it works fine.

So besides the possibility that I need to Bug report this, does anyone have
any suggestions for a work around. I really need to hide that lower part of
the window and be able to display it under the control of code.

I tried it on Windows with 2005r2 and it seemed to be working ok. The problem may be a matter of what is setting the value for testMode. Would it work if you set the window size to 480 before compiling, and then use code to reset it to 650 when needed, or are there times when it would need to open at 650?

Dear Jennifer,

I could try setting the size to 480 and compiling and see how that works. The 650 height is not the normal viewing size. This is only used when the user wants to view the internal log the applications maintains.

I also constructed a simple test application that uses a button to change the window height and that is working so there has to be someting in my application that is the problem.

Funny thing the same code works OK on Macintosh and Windows and was working on the Linux version until I compiled with RB2005. I am getting the feeling that this is going to be one of those simple little logic bugs in the code that is going to take days to track down.

Thank you for your reply.

Doublecheck the MaxHeight and MinHeight properties to make sure they're not screwed up.

Dear silverpie,

Thanks, that seems to have been the problem. At some point I had set the Min and Max height values for the window to the same value of 650.

You saved me a lot of work trying to figure this one and like I thought a simple little bug.
