Showurl is (according to the LR) supposed to open a webpage using the sysem's default browser. But when I use showurl it launches the application Kompozer (html editor). When I remove Kompozer from my system and I use showurl I get the following error:
Couldn't find file /var/tmp/kdecache-frank/krun/8794.0

When i try to open a webpage using xdg-open (which uses the default browser) I have no problem.

Anyone a clue?

Are you passing a file path or a web URL?

ShowURL will use the system default program for the protocol defined. If double clicking an html file opens it in a browser then ShowURL will too. Real Studio makes no distinction between browsers and other programs. It passes what you put in to the OS and asks what program to open it in.

Of course I am just guessing that this is your situation because you didn't post a sample of what you are trying to accomplish for us to help you with.

In terminal try
echo $BROWSER
and see what is being set
That used to be how many distros identified their default browser and the framework may be trying to resolve it using that

echo $BROWSER returned nothing, soi I guess BROWSER wasn't set.
I added
BROWSER=/usr/bin/firefox
to /etc/environment
after rebooting everything is working.
