Post subject:  low quality print

I'm using RB 2011r43 and Ubuntu 10.43. LTS. All applications under Ubuntu print to the printer cleanly except for documents generated in RB. I have change the printersetup variable so that the dpi is set to 300 dpi. Still poor quality printing.

I tried the most recent incarnation of Ubuntu (12.4) and RB printing is clean only I don't like the new desktop of Ubuntu. I want to use Ubuntu 10.43 LTS with RB but I have no idea why the printing is low quality. Again, all other apps print cleanly - just RB fails in this area.

I downloaded/installed the latest version of CUPS but, still, poor quality of printing. I'm almost sure it has something to do with the printer driver. Perhaps I'm missing a library.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There a bug which reappeared in 2011R4.3 and was reported (I think it's fixed for 2012R1 but not sure). RB ignores your printer settings and always print at 72dpi.

I'm having the same problem with Ubuntu 10.04. I just tried Xubuntu 12.04 with RB 2011r43 in virtualbox and printing is fine. But it's still weird why printing doesn't work on Ubuntu 10.04.

Thanks for the replies.

Just for informational purposes, I've tried more current releases of Ubuntu with RB 2011r4.3 and printing was good but, I don't like the new Ubuntu desktop. I prefer the old fashion menu driven desk top and would be very happy with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS if RB can get the print bug fixed.
