Just downloaded 2011R1 to my Ubununtu machine using the DEB installer. I had to add Read-Only permissions to the following directories and then RS would start up appropriately:
    Plugins
    REAL Studio 2011 Libs
    Scripts

Anyone else see the same thing?

Hello Kevin,

Yes, I found this to be a problem with the installer script. The fix is fairly easy. As root, change the permission for the Dir to 755 and files to 744. You have to catch some of the subDir in there also, after that, it should start fine.

I am getting a Segmentation Fault at random when opening a project from the initial startup dialog, wondering if you are getting this also.

Fred

Kevin,

Regarding the Segmentation Fault on opening a project, I was able to walk-around this by starting up RB, choosing to start a new project, then once the IDE has started I am able to open my existing projects without trouble. Hope this helps for now, since my segmentation fault has become more consistent now, before it was at random, now it is 9 out of 10 times.

Fred

I just needed to do "sudo nautilus" in the terminal then go to the installation folder and make the executable readable. The libs folder too.. (and plugins).

then i was done..;)

PS terminal + "sudo nautilus" + root password = Linux POWER

Tried these fixes on RS 2011r1 and they worked, but after installation of r1.1, tried fixing the permissions and this time, it failed to allow a startup (got the same messages about the bevelbutton). All of the permissions (files and directories) match those in the r1.0 directory. Any advice?

Never mind; I deleted all Real Studio files and directories & reinstalled. RS started up OK. There did seem to be multiple RS installation directories, though, when I was looking around to delete them all (i.e., more than the number of versions I had installed.)

Hi,
I've just installed the RealStudio 2011 R1.1 on a fresh Ubuntu 10.10 Linux installation, I've also followed the previous post but it doesn't solve the problem below:

Runtime Error
Please report what caused this error along with the information below.
../Common/plugin.cpp: 7450
Failure Condition: pluginEntryTable.GetEntry( entrypointName, out )
can't find plugin method BevelButton.DeleteAllRowsRuntime Error

Till RealStudio 2010 R5.1 everything works correctly.

Help are appreciated.

Hi,
finally found the problem solution, the directory name "Real Studio 2011 Libs" is wrong you need to rename it as "REAL Studio 2011 Libs".

Ciao.
