I have the code I need to enter at a terminal to cause screen-blanking after an elapsed time.
How would I create an RB program to do this?

The code is this:
xset +dpms
xset dpms 0 0 300

The above lines would set the screen to go blank after 5 minutes (the 300 is seconds).
My program would offer a set of choices for elapsed time. I know how to do all this, but my question is how to I get the information into the system without having to open up the terminal. Is there a way?

Use the shell class to run this xset commands from your app.

OK... Let's say my command is exactly the one I gave. How would I set up the shell class? I will get out my RB manual meantime and study up. Thanks.

Thanks... I just finished the program. A list of radiobuttons with a pushbutton to send the choice using sh.execute. Thanks again Christian!
