Hi guys,

I have built a rb app that use the RBSQLdatabase. I am compiling from Windows version of RealBasic but the app will run on a Linux(Ubutu 8.04) desktop. When i compile with RB2009, the application runs fine on Linux system, but since i bought the newest version(RB2010), now a new folder with Libs are created and my Linux app doesn't work at all. The only things that apears is the first windows, but when the app try to connect to the database, it finishes with no error or any messages. I copied the entire "Linux" folder created by RB compiler to the Ubuntu computer and it doesn't work.

Are there some new things to do when deploy Linux apps in RB2010?

When i try to run from linux command line the program display the error "Segmentation fault". This didn't happen with prior versions of RealBasic. The program build for Windows runs fine, but Linux build doesn't.

You will have to take into account that there is a new folder structure.

I just have a report of an user of mine that my Linux build application does behave correctly, but like mentioned as above. Unfortunately, the answer of Bob did not help me at all (my user is launching the linux app from the same folder as the Lib is).
Anyone found a reason / solution for the problem so far? Thanks.

If it worked fine when compiled with RB2009 then I would suggest to do that until the problem has been localized.

Well, I do already have RB 2010 / 2, and it is not that it's not working (anymore)...!

Well, this doesn't sound like working to me, but maybe your definition of working is different:

OK, here my simple definition:

My compiled Linux application with RB2009: works properly
My compiled Linux application with RB2010: shows first window, after timer elapses the main window does not appear but application 'quits': not working!

Better?

So the answer is still "compile with the version which works" - which is where we were two answers ago, isn't it?

Thanks for your very helpful answer..
Unfortunately, I do not keep all old RB versions like you.
I'm out of here.

So instead of running off in a huff how about just stating that you didn't keep the old version and asking where you can get it?

You'll find old versions of REAL at http://www.realsoftware.com/download/old.php

I'm happily running 2007R3 (for Win98/Mac Classic), 2009R5.1, and 2010R2 on my Mac.
