just recently install Ubuntu 9.10 and RB-10.1 only to find that the "OpenPrinterDialog" is not supported but nothing in the LR mentioned "OpenPrinter()" so I gave that a try and it did not work. Both return "nil"

Is there no way that printing can be accomplished with RB-Linux?

Have you got a printer installed?

Yup....last time I looked :D HP-6540

I could swear that with an earlier release of Ubuntu I was able to print from an RB project but then.....at my age I can't rely on my memory.

EDIT: Well.....I reinstalled Ubuntu 8.04, upgraded to 8.10, reinstalled RealBasic and ran my project. Printer works. :D

Now that's interesting.
Paul, when you say you could print from an RB project, do you mean you could print code from the IDE, or print from the application itself?
Anybody have a clue why that'd work on Ubuntu and not some other distros?

BeeGee56,

I meant I couldn't get the "OpenPrinter" to work in my code......nothing happened. But, as I reported above, I reinstalled Ubuntu and RealBasic and now all works fine.
