Try compiling on Windows - the Linux RB has some plugin issues that compiling on Windows seems to fix...

I have seen this before. It occurs when I have multiple separate RB windows going at the same time. In my case there is a folder /home/username/REALbasic which holds the temp files. Open it and delete everything inside. Then reopen RB and see if things are not back to normal.

The linux HTMLViewer only supports HTML 1.0, no Javascript, no DOM or anything else.

You may wish to use a shell script to launch a browser pointing to the right page or file.

I think Linux comes preloaded with Firefox - I know Ubuntu does... try calling Firefox using a shell script (although I have no idea how to do this, personally...)

Does ShowURL work on Linux? That would be the usual method.

The method ShowURL does work with Ubuntu Linux 8.0.4 using Firefox.

However, the syntax shown in the Language Reference is in error.

ShowURL "htp://www.realsoftware.com"

Will produce this error:

"Address Not Found

Firefox can't find the server at http%3a%2f%2fwww.realsoftware.com.

The browser could not find the host server for the provided address."

While
ShowURL "www.realsoftware.com"
opens Firefox and works fine.

Best wishes,
Dan

Yes, but it does work on other platforms with other browsers. So perhaps the documention needs updating, but it works as documented in some scenarios.

I agree Tim.

One comment I forgot before was to specify that this the LINUX users portion of RB. And, I also wanted to mention that if the website is secure, ShowURL will simply hang. No error message, but the browser does not open, either.

Actually, I would call that a bug in the software, not in the documentation. ShowURL should be able to handle more than just http, so you need to be able to specify a complete URL.
