I've downloaded and installed XUbuntu, http://www.xubuntu.org/get

It works beautifully... as far as I can tell. I haven't really worked with it.

The version is 8.10

In the docs for RealBasic, it says:

Officially Supported Distributions:

Ubuntu 6.10 or later
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

My Q's:
1. Does this include also the compiled software?
2. Does this include the XUbuntu distribution?

[edit:]
I must be clear: I don't intend to do very complicated things. I understand it is difficult... but a plain, simple, software, a window with some text. Maybe some buttons... Will this work with XUbuntu?

Hi,

my experience is that it works on Ubuntu, Xuubuntu, Mandriva, Suse and Fedora. On some distributions you may need to install

- CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System)
- libstdc++.so.5
- libstdc++.so.6

All distributions listed above have these packages available via their standard package manager. On Ubuntu / Xubuntu you can use synaptic to install these packages.
