I am using RB2008r1 on Ubuntu 7.10, and everytime I try to use the HTMLViewer, I get a Build Failed Error

Quote:
Plugin "pluginRBHTMLViewer.rbx:0" is not supported for Linux.

I am confused, because the LR says that it is supported.

Anyone see a similar problem?

KJ

I have not worked with 7.10 too much. However, I have a feeling that this is related to the gtkhtml not being present. If you go into Synaptic, do you see libgtkhtml installed? If not, install it and the HTMLviewer should work.

According to synaptic, I have libgtkhtml2-0, 3.14-19, and 3.8-15 installed.

It's not you, mate, HTMLViewer in Linux appears to still be broken in this release.

I submitted this report for 2007r5 and while it's verified, from my point of view, it doesn't look like fixing it was a priority:

I am also using HTMLViewer on Ubuntu 7.10 and it works fine with REALbasic 2007r5 and 2008r1.

I've only used it with LoadPage, not with LoadURL though...

I can't seem to get the app to compile if the viewer is even on the form.

It also works fine here on CentOS5 with REALbasic 2007r5 and 2008r1. I'm not sure which version of libGTKHTML used for HTMLViewer.

I can't use my quick little browser with the latest Linspire (6). I get: "An exception of class HTMLViewer was not handled. The application must shut down." It worked with Freespire1, but not with F2 or L6. I see someone said to check Synaptic. Please let me know how to do this. Thanks.
