Post subject:  How to deploy a Linux application

What's the most common/popular method of deploying a Linux application ?

It's only 2.5meg so I'm happy to just put the executable file on my website and let people download it as it is but would users think that strange ? or should I put it in a zip or some other type of install package ?

well the most common way is to make a package, .deb is by far more common these days with the rise of ubuntu and other debian derivatives
check out the thread
http://forums.realsoftware.com/viewtopi ... eb+package
but its also fine if you just distribute the executable
