Hey all i am not understanding why a simple htmlviewer for my site works when i test the same program in windows and then test it out on PClinux/DSL/puppy/Fedora/slackware/ubuntu!

It loads the page just fine when running it on windows. But once i try the same thing under linux and run it, it just goes back to the realbasic program. No errors or nothing... just stops... I try to run it again and again and still nothing. I compile it and run it, still the same thing; it just closes itself with no error....

I made sure i had the GTK 2.x, libgtkhtml2_0 & libgtkhtml 3.8_15 and i do.

What could it be??? :(

David

Welcome to the forums, Stealth,

What version of REALbasic are you using? Are you compiling your app on Windows then testing it in Linux, or was the app compiled using RB Linux?

Thanks for the welcome Corbin D:

I am using version 2007 R5. I have tryed both the windows and linux versions.

I have compiled the one that works in windows to linux and tryed it but still have the same problem.

I have compiled one in linux and still has the same effect.

However, i have been sussessful in getting an error while i am running it now, which shoots off the HTMLViewerException error on the LoadURL line. I just dont get why it works in windows just fine and not on linux if the HTMLViewer is a profuct of Realbasic...

Thanks,
David

As much as REAL has tried to make RB work the same on each platform, some things still crop up.

If you'd like to e-mail me your project, I'll try it on Ubuntu and see what's going on, k?

Okay, apparently it's an issue with 2007r5. I tried debugging with 2007r4 in Linux and it didn't crash and displayed the URL in the HTMLViewer. You might try downgrading to 2007r4 and see if that helps.

Also, you probably should file a bug report at:
http://www.realsoftware.com/feedback

Post the report ID here and I will sign on to it.
