I made a program and added some WAV sounds to the project. I used to have no problem in getting the compiled binary to play the WAVs on either Windows XP, Vista, Ubuntu 7.04, Xandros 4.1 or PCLinuxOS 2007 TR4.

Since PCLinuxOS released their final (non-test) 2007 release last weekend, I reinstalled to get a clean official release OS, but now my REALbasic-based "masterpiece" won't play sounds under PCLinuxOS anymore. No error messages, just no audio even though other programs play sounds fine.

I'm almost sure that once I install task-gnome and a bunch of gstreamer plugins (which I'm going to do at some point) I'll get sounds working again for my program, but I'd really like to know what exactly is needed just to get sound working so I can point users of my program in the future to the right packages, rather than having them downloading a bunch of irrelevant packages in the process.

What gstreamer and/or xine plugins are needed to play sounds through REALbasic-based programs? Thanks.

GStreamer cannot play certain sound formats without the appropriate codecs installed, could that be the problem? However, if other media players that you've run use GStreamer as their backend, then it's probably not that.

That's precisely what I want to know. What codec plugins for gstreamer and/or xine are required for REALbasic programs to play WAV files?

EDIT: Got it. All I needed to install was "gstreamer0.10-plugins-good"
