Good Day,

I use REALbasic Pro 5.5.3

I'm new to Linux.

I have a chat server program based on the Example Projects - Client Server Example. Whis runs as a ServiceApplication on Debian Etch.

When a client connects everything is fine. But if the client is idle. Then it is dropped within about 12 minutes of idle.

Is there a TCP Timeout setting in Linux?

Best Regards,
surfsaturn

the timeout is part of the TCP protocol and such. If the system is like telnet, I suggest sending chr(0) every few minutes. That is the NOOP operation in telnet and works well. It keeps teh connection alive and doesn't send very much, and telnet server will not change the idle time of the connection.
