When I load a file into a string, then rewrite the file back to disk, the file cannot be read and has a different icon. Apologies...I'm more of a mobile...linux..and windows guru :-p

Here is a screenshot to show you what I mean.

The two files are "Untitled.rbp" and "Untitled3.rbp"

And I keep seeing something about "UnsupportedFormatException" for one of my listboxes?

Also...it appears RS 2012 has a problem with versioning? 0.0.0???

1) check the two files mac type & creators (while deprecated it's still often used)

2) no idea about UnsupportedFormatException except it may have to do with a file path name ?

3) no clue what you mean about versioning - where ?

App.(major/minor/bug) all return 0 (see screenshot window title bar)

So what would the mactype and creator be for RBP, RBO, and zip files
Be? I am lost at the moment.

Doubtful since the RB IDE uses them itself

try RbBf for MacType and RBv2 for MacCreator
And they ARE case sensitive

Zip files could actually be type ???? creator ????

These are more legacy settings than anything BUT some versions of OS X will still use them.
Apple is deprecating their use in favour of UTI's (but that another whole long explanation)

Matt

I have an application that run on both Mac and Windows. In the data base there can be stored file references to files (pdf, text, images, etc). While testing I copy the data base from my Mac, which I mainly use, to my Windows machine. I will get this kind of error, when I try to open the file.

I have stored the full path name in the database. The problem is that the Mac and Windows store the path name differently. However in my case the path name are not valid anyway as they are on different machines.

I realized what I was doing wrong. Apparently I was confusing MacCreator with type when I finally realized what norm posted... Theres RbBf, RBVc, CbCl, and CbVw for Real files. :-) I've written a number of applications for Mac...but never encountered this issue...the files generated were always "only" read by the application itself... :-)

It's working brialliantly and perfectly now...kudos to RS!
