I think the properties editor approach would be more feasible -- doing it after the color makes for bad UI. Think about code like this:

Dim c as Color = &cFF00FF  // This is a color

Wahoo( "Some string", 1.3234234234, &c00FF00, &cFF0000, &c0000FF )

The code lines would get very long quite quickly.

Nope -- they're talking about the color picker in the IDE itself -- so they can have a palette that displays various colors which they can then drag into source code to make into color constants.

Aaron,

I'm not doing a good job of describing what I was talking about... If only you could see the pictures in my head (scary thought huh? :lol:)

What I was talking about was something I've seen a few web page editors do of late. Btw this only "happens" while you are editing the value directly in code.

Example:

Imaging the following line of code:
MyColor=&cFF0000

If the user moved the cursor in the &c part of the line a small ... icon is displayed at the end of the color constant definition. Example:

MyColor=&cFF0000(...)
Where (...) is a small icon.

Clicking the (...) brings up the system color editor, set to what ever color is specified in the constant. If you start typing a color constant the same thing happens. Example:

MyColor=&c(...)

The other thing I was talking about is optionally displaying a tiny little swatch the same inline with the color constant say 8x8 pixels. Again maybe only on mouse over or when the cursor moves into the constant.

Just a bunch of WAI (Wild A-- Ideas),

Kev

Interesting ideas that are worth exploring. :-)
