Hi,

I have an app that when doing remote debugging on my Mac to Parallels VM running Windows my program kept crashing and even stepping through it didn't let me see the problem.

So I installed the demo on windows and figured I'd debug it on windows. When I compiled it by hitting the run button it crashed instantly with this error:
Quote:
---------------------------
Runtime Error
---------------------------
Runtime Error
Press OK to Continue
Press Cancel to Quit.

Please report what caused this error
along with the information below.

..\..\..\Common\SpawnCompiler\SpawnCompilerInterface.cpp: 557
Failure Condition: *ptr != '\n' && *ptr != '\r'
Renderer is trying to add multiple lines at once
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------

This compiles and runs under Mac fine. I'm at the point where I need to run this on windows, the platform where it will be mainly used.

Any Ideas???

Rich

examine your constants and see if you have one that has embedded newlines in it

also look for "gremlins" in them as that can cause this

Thanks for replying.

I looked over and found several Untitled Constants that didn't have a data type. I deleted those and the same thing happens, it crashes with the runtime error instantly after pressing the run.

Wouldn't you think Real Software would have something in the compiler to catch this problem?

Any other ideas?

Rich

Found the problem!!!

I created a new project and started copying each module into the new project, hitting run after each one. It didn't matter that there were compile errors because it crashed before getting to there.

Pasted on mod in hit run and boom!

I then created new project with that and boom!

If anybody wants a copy of the bad project just let me know by replying here.

I intend to post this into the feedback system.

are you calling any declares or API that are specific to OSX? That might crash a Windows compile.
