One of my Real Studio programs creates a system tray icon in Windows. (Users can click on this icon to bring up the program.) However, under Windows 7, the icon is hidden by default. A user would have to change the system tray preferences to display all the icons, or change my program's icon's preference to "Show icon and notifications" (instead of "Only show notifications"). I would like to do this programmatically so my users don't have to do it themselves. Does anyone have any tips on how to accomplish this?

There is no interface to programmatically change the user's notification icon settings in Windows 7; this is by design, see: https://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/ar ... 05142.aspx

Well that's unfortunate for my users, but it's good to know one way or the other. Thanks, charonn0!

(P.S. I read that Old New Thing blog post. Very sarcastic, although I can easily see how people would abuse that feature if it were available. I think my program's use case is legitimate, and it's unfortunate that my users, particularly unskilled ones, will have to go through the inconvenience of having to unhide my program's icon or pin it to the taskbar.)
