Yes. It is doable.

Preferrably with a MySQL server somewhere in the network.
Connect to the server via the MySQLCommunityDatabase class and set up a Transactions table.

If you dont want/need a centralized server, you also could write into a RealSQL File thats located on the POS PC.

Pro's and Cons:

MySQL:
+ easy backup, replace POS, one data hub for multiple POS (statistics!), (no need to update barcodes on each POS)
- needs server in the backend, needs constant network access

RealSQL
everything like mySQL, but reversed
+ needs no server, needs no network access
- backup needs to be done on each POS, each POS holds his own dataset, (Barcode updates need to be done for each client itself)

My advice would be to take a MySQL server and store the data there.
If the server is not reachable, it's stored inside a local RealSQL DB instead and displays a warning that the POS is running in local mode and needs a connection to upload the data.

Hello arthofer,
thanks for your quick reply, but my question is another, I know how to store a data within a database but I don't know how to detect when the card swipe the POS. How work the interaction between software and POS?

Thats the point where we need more information.
The point is how the POS is getting the card swipe data...

Have you got a datasheet or some information about your POS?

The only informations that I have is that my customer want build an app that when he swipe the card on POS my software must save the price, date and item name.
These information must stored inside a database RealSQL.

If you have other solutions I can suggest them to my customer.

Then i'm sorry that i cant help you.
The only important thing is how to get the data.

(RS232, custom USB device, keyboard emulation like a barcode scanner....)

And if you know how you get your infos, you may build your software around that input format.

Lots of times these devices appear to "type".
if you have the focus on a text field then swipe the card the data will just get put in the text field as if someone typed it in.

Right.
It behaves as if the user types in everything itself.

Depending on the other input, either wait for the keystroktes to be sent after a button is pressed ("Credit Card") or capture everything.
But it shouldn't be that hard to implement.

Just be careful when coding your device driver for the POS device. These are governed by REG E. in the US. Also if you are planning to do Pin based transaction you may not be able to calculate the pin off sets from track II in code. (regulation) and will have to have it done by hardware device. I would recommend finding a processor to send the transaction to and letting them handle the authorization of each transaction.
