Where there exists an 'A' and a 'W' variant of a Win32 API function, can it be taken as guaranteed that all modern versions of Windows (ie. XP and later) support the 'W' version?

There are some cases where it is slightly messy to try and support the 'A' variant as a fallback, and I am wondering if this is strictly necessary?

As far as I know all modern versions of Windows (i.e. XP, Vista, 7) support the "W" version.

Considering that Windows 9x market share as of last month is less than 1% globally, I think it's safe to leave out the A functions. I stopped doing the IsFunctionAvailable two-step some time ago.
