I'm looking at doing a tutorial or two on using ActiveX in REALbasic. Anyone have a list of ActiveX controls that they know to work in RB?

I have work on an audio/sound project which use Active X. It is some time elapsed, but if you want I can later write some infos about it.
You can download the Active X control here
There are 3 different controls: Active Sound Editor, Active Sound Recorder and Active DJ Studio.

Hi Bob,

I saw your posting about doing a tutorial on Active X and RB and thought you may be interested in this current posting on the forum:

This Active X works in as late as 2009 R 5, with some difficulties emerging in 2010 releases (could be my limited skills).

Take a look. Hope this helps.

Take a look at this case: 20691

New versions of RB...
1) cannot pass parameter by name
2) cannot covert from COM.Idispatch to OLEObject

Refer to Feedback case 20691 (Rank: 106th)

Here's a working copy (attached as TreeView.rbp)
The main issue is that passing parameters by name isn't support with the new COM generated classes (since they bypass OLEObject completely). I had to manually add a function called AddRootNode that passed a parameter by name. Ideally in the future we can provide a function to convert from COM.IDispatch to OLEObject. That way you can pass parameters by name using the OLEParameter and OLEObject.

This article from BKeeney explains some more of the limitations on using REALbasic ActiveX feature ... 4a-12.html

Catalyst Development, reported some issues using REALbasic ActiveX feature as well
