Hi there,

I've found a bug in MAC (i think).

I found out that if I use q quicktime movie to load a file, then all the noteplayer controls stop sounding.
This is a real pain as I have metronomes running noteplayer controls and quictime soundfiles are running the audio files.

This works fine in windows.

In my windows version, the note player controls work along sinde the quicktime controls.
I use quicktime to record sounds from a selected input.

I was feeling really good about it - until I built it for mac.

First it started crashing as it didn't like me using the MBS quicktime QTGrabberMBS
using the debig stub, I found that if I have q as a QTgrabberMBS object and called
q.initSOund
it caused to crash. It only started working in it's stumbling waddle when I dimmed out that statement.

So, I'm stuck. I'm using Lion, the latest version of RS.

I have the MBS audio and midi plugins
The MBS quicktime plugins
A plugin for OpenAL

and so far, only quicktime has been working the way I want.
It's sucj a shame that the noteplayer doesn't work when I load quicktime files (and this only happens in Mac)
I've been working on this project fro over two years, so a little help would be greatly appreciated :)
Cheers,
Sean

Notes will be played via QuickTime on Mac. And QuickTime cant play two things at once.

Also, the NotePlayer is deprecated. I do not recommend to use it.

You want a bunch of new classes and web styles? realstudiodevspot.com (search there for Web Styles Plugin)
Folderitem is too hard? File Bin Class

Seriously - not two things at once?
Is that correct?
I find it hard to believe that in this instance that windows is superior to mac when it comes to manipulating quicktime.
About noteplayer being depreciated, some people say it is and some people say it isn't.

I would use the MBS midi class, but when I run the example in my mac, it comes up with no midi drivers (which is also a little ludicrous.

On windows, notes will be played via the Windows Media Player. I have to think about it. I reply if I know a solution.

I came up with a workaround...
I made a small window with a noteplayer on it. I made the menubar invisible and shrank it to zero pixels.

From my main window where I wanted to access the noteplayer from (Where the qucktime control was blocking the main windows noteplayer, I just called to the invisible window the noteplayer over there.
It works perfectly now on.

You guys are going to freakout when you see what I am making with realbasic!!!! :)

i Don't like the notplayer being deprecated soon also...
I loved it... but when it's gone, more will be gone...

Hey Swort - I managed to create a library for creating an abc music png.

ABC creates a SWG as you know. I tied in a java class to convert the SWG to PNG.
No javascript needed, No Internet explorer 9 needed.

It takes about a 1.5 seconds from text file to png - but I can do that in the backend.

There's nothing better than coming up with solutions that break new ground.

When I have my product on the market, I'm going to release a lot of these kinds of secrets to my mates here at the forum....
Creating and displaying music notation
Recording sound with OpenAL (Thanks to Roger Mier)
Manipulating QuicktimeMBS (If Christian Allows it)

maybe I'll create a whole website about it with downloadable products :)

It's a same they give the business to the 3rd parties.
This should not be happening, NotePlayer was so much fun.

And now? We gonna have to pay for additional plugins to keep it in your project in the future?
Very pleasing...

Hey sean,

Yes i can remember, did you manage it to get it working all correctly?

If i understand right you convert a SWG (don't you mean SVG ?) to PNG?
You can do it in the background (for web or desktop ?) sure.

Those secrets could best be shared on http://www.realstudiodevspot.com/ free!
It's a project of Matt Combatti (very good developer). Or you could send it to arbpmembers.org

Anyway, if you need help you have got my email address (please don't share publicly online).

If you need any functionallity which is not possible in Real Studio, you can use dynamic libraries and declares, plugins or extention classes.

Just ask what you need..;)
