Why exceptions throun from plugin are not caught in try-catch block in RB code, but are caught in App.UnhandledException?

Absolutely no idea -- what version of RB are you seeing this in? I've not seen this behavior in RB2006r1.

If you're seeing it in the current version of RB, then you should file a bug report so that we can look into the issue and fix it.

This is similar to the post above. I'm using RB 09 R3

I have the following

try
lresult = registerMBSPlugin("Some stuff", "MBS PDFlib", 0, 0)
catch
MsgBox("this didn't work.")
end try

if i intentionally hobble the RTL's required, I get a Run Time Error
(It'd be nice if I could cut and paste this text)

..\..\..\..\Common\plugin.cpp:7317
Failure condition...
can't find plugin method RegisterMBSPlugin...

I put code in Unhandled Exception and the try catch?

I would like to make this fail gracefully.

Pilot error or bug?

My experience is that there is something not quite right with exception handling in some circumstances.

It's definitely broken in Windows console apps compiled on Windows (2009R2.1) compared to earlier versions (2008R1 IIRC). I submitted a bug report complete with proofs (last month IIRC) but had no feedback as yet.

I don't have time to keep doing proofs but it appears to me that there are an increasing number of circumstances where the RB runtime will crash within Try...End Try blocks.
