Post subject: Trying to build mysql database plugin...
PostPosted: Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:15 pm
In order to connect to a mysql database it seems I must download and build the mysql database plugin.
I copied the gluecode and include files into the plugin folder and tried to build the plugin. However XCode is very unhappy.
Has anyone built the mysql plugin successfully on mac os x? OS X 10.5.7 XCode 3.1.3

I noticed that the rbx file already existed in the download. Does it matter under which development environment that rbx was built? How do I know that wasn't built with Visual Studio and is meant for a windows environment?

As pointed out in another, similarly titled topic, you don't have to build the plugin. You just put the .rbx file in your Plugins folder/directory, and you are done.

Of course, you should do that while Rb is not running, or restart Rb, so that it can load the plugin when it launches.

Ya, I figured that out.. but that doesn't change the fact that the code provided to build the plugin will not compile on mac os x... and that is spooky.. I'd hate like hell to find out that I have to change databases in the near future because I can't get a mysql plugin..

What 'code provided to build the plugin' are you referring to?

Ignore my previous question. I've found the source, and it appears that the dynamic library file (MySQLCommunityPlugin.dylib) isn't included in the download.

The other couple of items that got flagged when I brought the project into XCode were all on my system in various places.

Seems like the dylib is kind of important if we want to build the plugin on our own. :)

No idea. :) Don't know a blessed thing about making plugins. Only know that XCode highlights the dylib in red and the other items that were highlighted actually existed on my machine, just not where they were referenced in the project. Relocating them took the red highlight away.
