I'm working on an app that has several tables that need records added/changed. I'm building the forms for each table with a button that is bound to a datacontrol to do the insert.

The customer table works fine but the store table doesn't. It seems to run real slow when I try to debug it, but I see it is getting an error code of 1 which would indicate malformed SQL. Since the datacontrol is handling this I have no control over the SQL generated.

Anyone seeing this kind of issue?

I am using RB2005R4.

Are there any reserved words in the schema?

No reserved words in the schema that I can see. The store table I mentioned is used for a multi-store environment so it's mainly name, address, city, etc.

Hmm. This sounds like it might be a bug. Is it with the REAL SQL Database? Would it be possible to send me your project?

Will

I want to test a few other things but if they don't work out I can send it to you. Wouldn't mind a second "head" taking a look and see if it's something I'm doing.

Of course you'll to sign about a 1,000 page NDA :lol:

the reason I asked about a reserved word
rec.Column("group") = error
rec.Column("[group]") = OK

in the RecordSet class, the "[ ]" aren't needed
sGroup = rs.Field("group").StringValue = OK

dim db as new REALSQLDatabase
dim rec as new DatabaseRecord

db.DatabaseFile = GetFolderItem("c:\tmp\mydb.sdb")
if not db.Connect then
MsgBox "no connect"
quit
end

rec.Column("cat") = "category"
rec.Column("sub") = "sub category"
rec.Column("group") = "group" // Error
rec.Column("[group]") = "group" // OK
db.InsertRecord("test2",rec)
if db.Error then MsgBox db.ErrorMessage

"[ ]" don't showup in the code
