please help with a little confusion about connecting to and navigating databases.

I have the code in a global module to connect to an existing REALSQL database that works properly. But if put a DataControl on a layout, the database property will only connect to one I add in the project tab (Project->Add->database. How do I get the DataControl to find the db I connected to via code?

thanks,

Forget about the dataControl. Those things have been deprecated for many releases. If you are successfully connecting to a DB in code, then that's all you need.

I have gotten the message to dump the DataControl. Just means a little more coding but more control to the programmer...

thanks folks,
