I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out how to use the Webcanvas to do a Signature Capture.

While the left mouse button is depressed, I can not capture mouse movement. While the mouse buttons are not pressed, mouse movement can be tracked. However, I can't have any capture unless the mouse button is down.

Secondly, I am NOT able to figure out how to capture movement on a touch screen like an iPad. MouseDown or MouseMove don't seem to be triggered when the screen is touched.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Never used the WEB version... but in the desktop version... MOUSEMOVE is for when the button is NOT pressed
and MOUSEDRAG is for when it is. Does WEB have a MOUSEDRAG event?

don't forget returning TRUE from MOUSEDOWN (assuming again WEB is similar to DESKTOP versions)

No MouseDrag.

Only:

MouseDown
MouseEnter
MouseExit
MouseMove
MouseUp

i should recommend you do this on the client side (javascript), and not by using server side code.

You could use the WebControlSDK to create a control like that. But digital written signatures by mouse i don't like it personally.
Anyway use javascript, as this kind of control is interacting alot over a longer time base. The server and client have latency to have in mind, that being said means: it slows the communication, uses information you don't need (headers etc every time this event will be called from the client, sending you the response).

This is the reason I waited until the new Webcanvas was release. I was told at one point that this was being handled at the client side. But, without any explanation from Real, I'm at a loss at how to utilize it.

Thus, is there anyone at Real that can help me out with this?

I'm willing to make this a class, specificly for the signature purpose.
But you got to help me by defining what you need.

Perhaps you can try to look online, for a similar control (jquery or so).

I just need to allow a customer to sign the screen, and then I would want to grad that graphic and then I'd store it in a BLOB field in my MS SQL database.

Why not use previously used signature methods found to generate the signature client side using JavaScript..and when done use Ajax to post the "image" back to the server in a custom websdk control :-) client side drawing will prevent server latency issues...and the JavaScript can already be found here in the forums :-) ill take a stab as well... Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone...
