I use the excellent plugin "Extended" by Bob Delaney:
http://homepage.mac.com/delaneyrm/ExtendedPlugin.html

One of my users sent me this screen shot of my application. The error appears to show a path to a volume "RBUS", but neither Bob nor I have a volume with that name. Bob its confident his plugin is good.
So what is "RBUS" and from where did its name originate.
This is a compiled Mac application. The application runs on my machine, but not on my customers. We are both running Intel - he is 10.4.11 andI 10.6.4
I recompiled using an older version of the same plugin and the application works on my customers machine. In trying to track the problem down, can anyone explain what I am being told:

I should add that ConvBase is indeed a function from his plugin

Are you on an Intel machine and your customer on a PPC machine?

Type in VOLUMES RBUS into Google and you will find hundreds of pages talking about various aspects of this message.....

and the most common thread I saw in most of these posts mentioned PPC machines

I googled "VOLUMES RBUS" and found it relates to RealBasic, but not what it actually means, or where to start my debugging.
Is it a plugin error, an error in my code, or?

Is VOLUMES RBUS something internal to RB?

I'll ask and find out.
I'm interested in why my application works with the previous version of the plugin but not the new version, and also to the origins of the error message text.
Can anyone from RB offer an explanation as to what the message means? Is Volumes/RBUS/ part of the path to their code repository?

This path is the path to the source code for the C function to load plugins. The fact is that your plugin does not load. Maybe you forgot to set flags right for supporting 10.4 or you miss the PPC code.

Greetings
Christian

Hi Christian,
Thanks for the input.

Can you clarify a couple of points -

Are you saying the path is on the plugin developers machine? He says he doesn't recognize it. Also, Googling reveals that path is detailed as being reported in error messages from other developers.

When you talk of setting the flags right, do you mean the plugin developer may have missed setting some flags correctly?

My customer was running Intel. Of course through some 'accident' he could have been opening the application in Rosetta.

The path listed there with plugin.cpp in on the build machine RS uses to build the REAL Studio framework. Nothing to do with you or your client.

Flags, well, you can specify on C compilers on Mac which Mac OS X version to support as minimum. So you use SDK 10.6 and have Deployment target 10.4 active. And check the platforms. You need 32 bit universal.

Greetings
Christian
