I am attempting to use the ImageMagick plug-in from MBS. It needs ImageMagick.bundle which I can't seem to find. In another post, Christian said it's part of the plugin, yet I can't find it. What am I missing?

ImageMagick is difficult to install. But once you got it installed, you can tell the plugin to load the magick.dylib.

The GraphicsMagick plugin has the library built in.

Greetings
Christian

Thanks for the reply! Can I use GraphicsMagick to convert a PDF to a JPEG and select the DPI of the JPEG?

Thanks!
Floyd

You can try it.
I think GraphicsMagick handles PDF with Ghostscript, so you may need to install Ghostscript.

You don't need a special plug-in of any kind to read PDF files and then export them as JPEG files.

You can use standard quick time component available in REALbasic to read and save PDF files as a graphic file like JPG or PNG.

Well, that is certainly easy enough! Thanks for letting me know!

Take care,

Reading and saving the first page of the PDF is easy enough. How do I read and display the individual pages of the PDF?

Thanks!
Floyd

Can anyone please post a sample on how to create an image of a pdf from the qt component? I've tried lots of things but can't get a picture (which I would like to use in the MBS OCR to extract the text).

What do you really want?

Our DynaPDF Plugin can get PDF to Picture in latest prereleases and also extract Text from PDF.

Greetings
Christian

Well I've tried DynaPDF too, but it's a) too expensive for me (want to use it in a very limited application, but for text extraction a pro license is necessary), b) it leaves a lot of spaces inside words in the pdf I tested and c) strange character support could be better (the text is in dutch, so we use a lot of ï, ë, ü). These shortcomings make it impossible to search through the text, which is the main purpose of my application. The pdfkit variant from the MBS plugin works a lot better, but of course doesn't work on windows.

The main use of the application is as a database for old magazine articles from my publishing company, so new employees can use it as a collective memory (there have been some job changes lately).
