We issued an update for Feedback today, version 2013r1. However due to a bug, Feedback 2012r2 will not be able to automatically update to the latest version. To update manually, please visit http://www.realsoftware.com/feedback/
to download the version appropriate for your system.
So what happened? In Real Studio 2012r1 we fixed a number of bugs with the HTTPSocket class. Feedback 2012r2 was built with Real Studio 2012r1, so it had the latest HTTPSocket fixes. What was not realized at the time Feedback 2012r2 was built, is that Feedback was relying on bad behaviors from HTTPSocket. Everything seemed to perform normally, until we issued today's update.
When you log into an affected version of Feedback, you will get a message that says "Feedback must download a software update, but could not find the update online. Please try again later." Instead, you must download a new copy of Feedback and install it manually. The good news is that Feedback 2013r1 will not have this issue, and will be able to update to future versions as expected.
Since the update will not work, you will not be able to see the release notes. So, here's what's new in this version of Feedback. Windows users will appreciate a fix for case #22267, which caused animation-related exceptions at seemingly random times. We've added new privacy options for cases too. Now beta users can choose to have their cases visible to other beta users, rather than a simple public/private design. And lastly, case views will now show additional details about the person who created the case. And of course, this version has all the framework fixes introduced over the last 6 months.
