I thought I had read somewhere that .ico files are usable with RB2005.

Am I wrong? It seems so as only gifs and bmp's seem to work for me. I assume there are others too but since most of my icons are .ico's that's where I need clarification. Should they be usable directly or do I need to convert all ico's to gifs?

.ico files can be imported from the Windows IDE (but not on the Mac or Linux).

Sorry, forgot to mention that I was working in the Windows IDE in r3.

All ico files show blank in the Project window. Gifs show proper thumbnails.

I'm assuming your ico files are using the standard (supported) sizes from the IDE? I know the feature is functional, I used it to add the icon to the new remote debugger stub (for an upcoming release), and just tested it out with another set of .ico files.

Maybe size is the problem. They are 32x32 32 bit depth

What specs/sizes are acceptable?

I think 32x32x32 should be fine.

Acceptable sizes are:

128x128x32
48x48x32
48x48x8
32x32x32
32x32x8
16x16x32
16x16x8

Can you send the .ico file to me via email? I'll see what I can see with it.

Just to close this off for the benefit of others and to thank Aaron for hanging in and clarifying this.

The jest is that ico files can be used as the App Icon, but not imported into the project for use on buttons, etc.

Image conversions added to my to-do list :-))
