 Post subject: Structuring OpenGL applications

All,
I'm having trouble implementing a function to do drawing in OpenGL -
What I'd like to do is

- In the surface render event have code like
DrawImage()

Then in a module (or as a method) have code like
DrawImage()
Setup
DrawPoints
Cleanup

and so on. The issue I'm having is - what do I pass from the render event into the various functions so that I can execute GL code?
